With the winds subsiding from the previous day We headed out with Ray and Vic. With water clarity on the main lake not being ideal we started off in plan B waters. After a slow start and several close calls with duck hunters we headed west. We finished the day going 7 for 11 on Steelhead also boating a bonus Lake Trout.

We headed out with Paul, Kevin and Stan for a day of Steelhead fishing. Due to high winds and waves on the main lake it was plan B. We managed to go 5 for 8 on Steelhead also boating a massive smallmouth and a 10# Lake Trout.
E.P.S.F.A. – 2014 Fall Trout Challenge – 5th Place FinishTeam Outcast consisted of the regulars First Mate Ron and Chris with guest Don. High winds and waves made the west unfishable so we headed to plan B waters. With the fishing being tough we settled into grind mode. We finished 5 for 7 on Steelhead, boxing 1 short of the 6 fish limit. Off to weigh ins with a tough field of competitors. When it was said and done only 2 teams, of the 11 team field, managed to box the 6 fish limit. Only 3 other teams were able to managed a 5 fish box. With the weights tallied Outcast posted a 5th place finish, under very tough conditions and a great field of competitors.
We headed west and fished the day with Eric, Margaret and Lauren. We made two passes off of the tribs and boated 4 nice brown trout! After that the game was on with Steelhead. A ferocious bite had us finishing the day 23 for 32 on Steelhead. What a great day on the water.
We headed west with John and Jen to target fall staging Steelhead. The lake was choppy but the bite was on. We managed steady action as we went 16 for 23 on Steelhead including a bonus 10# Lake Trout courtesy of a Bay Rat Lures “Fat Rat” in chrome sherbet.
I headed west with First Mate Ron to do some Steelhead scouting and dial in our inshore Steelhead program. We decided to test out some of the new Bay Rat Lures “Fat Rats” that were provided to us courtesy of the guys at Bat Rat Lures. The Fat Rats didn’t disappoint taking multiple violent strikes with our favorite color of the day being “Chrome Sherbet”. We headed in at lunch time going 11 for 14 on Steelhead including a bonus Brown Trout. Thanks Bay Rat for a great lure!
Mate Ron and I headed west on a flat lake with a plan to do some searching and experiment with some different tactics to target staging Steelhead. The planets seemed to be aligned as calm lake conditions and sunny skies came together to produce non-stop catching action. The plan paid off as we finished the day going 15 for 18 on staging Steelhead. This proved to truly be a memorable day on the water. ** Check out this Steelhead catching video filmed September 25, 25 & 27 *** Mate Ron and I once again headed west with my dad Frank and Outcast Fishing Team member John to target more Steelhead and fine tune the program. We ended the day 5 for 7 on Steelhead also boating a bonus Brown Trout. The program remained the same as the previous day.
Mate Ron and I headed west to recon some areas to locate staging Steelhead. The lake was flat with sunny skies which made for tough fishing. We managed to go 3 for 5 on Steelhead. The program consisted of small stick and crank baits off of the inline boards.
We fished the day with Mark and his crew. After a morning of fighting the waves and a very slow bite the lake laid down and we found a few hungry fish. We managed to finish the day going 10 for 14 on Walleye while boating numerous junk fish. Program consisted of choked up 7 LC and 5 LC with deep divers.
